Sonya has been dancing for over 20 years. She started dance at the young age of 3 years, and began as an assistant/teacher at the age of 12. Sonya also owned a studio in her hometown of Knoxville for 15 years. Miss Sonya's dance education and experience include; Joffrey School of Ballet summer intensives, traveling with Team Tremaine as a protégé for the teachers, and dancing for the Knoxville City Ballet. Sonya grew up as a competition dancer, winning several regional and national titles. She has also choreographed many winning regional and national titles. Miss Sonya is certified through DMA, where she attended teacher training school at the University of New York at Buffalo. She has studied and taken class from some world renowned Choreographers such as; Al Gilbert, Joe Tremaine, Frank Hatchett, Judy Ann Bassing, Doug Caldwell, Mia Michaels, Wade Robson, Brian Freidman, and Laurie Ann Gibson. Some of Miss Sonya's former students are now working professionally; dancing for Cruise Lines, Walt Disney World, Dollywood, and traveling with Broadway Shows around the United States. Miss Sonya loves teaching all ages, and feels so blessed to be part of the bellA dance family. Your children are such joys to have in class each week.
